Introduction

The Strategy & Performance Service provides a high quality and professional information and intelligence service to the Council, Strategic Partnerships, local agencies and to the people of Bradford District helping to inform decision making and the planning and delivery of high performing services. The Service comprises four teams (as detailed below), whose work is drawn together into the emerging "Bradford Observatory" - a performance and intelligence portal for the District.

The Teams
1. Community Consultation and Customer Research Team:
Role - responsible for the development and implementation of consultation processes, including the "Speakout!" citizen's panel, and the provision of a range of bureau services for undertaking and commissioning research and on-line surveys.
 
2. Information and Systems Team:
Role - responsible for the development of information sources and for developing tools for dissemination (including the Bradford Community Statistics Project / Bradford Observatory). The I&S Team also incorporates the Corporate Geographical Information Systems Service (Bradford-i - funded).
 
3. Statistical Research and Monitoring Team:
Role - responsible for the production of a range of statistical analysis and monitoring functions, including Safer and Stronger Communities monitoring and Neighborhood Element research as well as the production of the narrative annual statistical abstracts for the District, 'Picture of the District' and 'Bradford in Brief'.
 
4. Demographics Team:
Role - responsible for the processing and dissemination of census information, mid-year-estimates and population projections and thereby providing the 'context' against which other data can be standardised and meaningfully analysed.
