Area conferences take place every two years. They are an important mechanism through which elected
members on each Area Committee select priorities for their 2 year area committee
action plans.
Each area conference brings together active local residents, elected members and
service managers to consider which priorities should be included in the next 2 year
area committee action plan. To help inform the conversations,
people are presentated with issues that have been raised in neighbourhood forums,
local action plans and members' surgeries. In addition, this year people at some
conferences also had access to local data to help inform the conversations.
This ranged from how well children and young people are doing at school,
how many people feel they can influence decisions affecting their local area
and local crime figures. In developing this round of area action plans,
the intention is to set some baseline data around priorities so we can track changes
that take place over the next 12 months and then again at the end of 2009 - 11 plans cycle.
Various materials for the conferences are provided for each area below, the overall priorities which came out of these conferences are summarised
in the this document located here.
